Light Scattering in High TC Superconductors

Abstract

Raman and Infrared experimental results are reviewed for the Y-based high Tc superconducting compounds. The effects of elemental substitutions for the Y and Cu sites, the oxygen stoichiometry, and the hydrostatic high pressure, on the lattice vibrations are discussed. In addition, the use of Raman spectroscopy for the assessment of the microcrystalline orientation in bulk systems is outlined.
