Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 313))

Abstract

The aim of treatment of thromboembolic occlusion is prompt restoration of blood flow. Ideal treatment of thrombosis is therefore to remove the obstruction. If this is not possible, treatment should ensure that the thrombus does not extend or generate an embolus.
