Part of the book series: Critical Issues in Psychiatry ((CIPS))

Abstract

Increased scientific interest in the neurobiological bases of behavioral disorders has brought about numerous changes in clinical practice within the psychiatric setting. One of the most conspicuous changes has been the renewed collaboration of behavioral neurologists and neuro-psychologists with psychiatrists and behavioral psychologists in the assessment and treatment of patients. The term neuropsychiatry refers to an evolving multidimensional approach to a variety of well-recognized behavioral disorders. The neuropsychiatric approach assesses and develops interventions for the interactive biological and psychological aspects of behavioral disorders.
