Abstract
This chapter describes the geometry of CBED patterns, and discusses the practical techniques used to assign a beam direction to each point in the central (000) disk. This “calibration” information is needed for all the techniques described in the remaining sections of this book. A thorough grasp of the figures in this chapter is absolutely essential for any understanding of the CBED technique. Experience shows that few electron microscopists understand the geometry of CBED patterns. This chapter and Chapter 9 are the most important chapters in this book.
