The Zooplankton Communities of the Eastern Mediterranean (Levantine Basin, Aegean Sea); Influence of Man-Made Factors

  • Chapter
Mediterranean Marine Ecosystems

Part of the book series: NATO Conference Series ((E,volume 8))

Abstract

The Eastern Mediterranean is a semienclosed basin of the Mediterranean Sea. This relatively small area connects with three different biogeographical areas, the Western Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean through the strait of Sicily, the Black Sea through the Bosphorous and the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean through the Suez Canal.
