Abstract
Transmission equipment used in conjunction with telephone exchanges utilizes a number of transmission modes. These include analog, frequency division, and time division channels. The means include wire, coaxial, or optical cable; radio; microwave; and satellites. This book is only concerned with interfacing with the modes and means. The details of the modes and means are covered in other texts.
