Abstract

A telephone switching center is part of a telecommunications network. The structure and organization of a switching center must therefore be responsive to the needs of the network. A switching system is a means of routing traffic from the various concentrations of population to destinations which may be anywhere in the world. Since the telephone traffic from a telephone line is small, telephone lines are connected to a switching center which concentrates the traffic and distributes it to its destinations.
