Abstract

In many disordered systems, such as glasses (mineral or polymeric) or spin glasses, slow relaxations are observed1–3. The decay rate of fluctuations is not a constant, as it is for exponential relaxation, but it increases with time. The main question is: where do these slow relaxations come from? The various approaches followed to explain the slow relaxations are all based on hierarchical organization in order to model the sequential relaxations where each level must relax to release the next level4.
