Abstract
Resonance Raman Spectra are presented for single crystals of TEDAI2.5 TCNQ and β-(BEDT-TTF)2I3. For both conductors, excitation at 647.1 mm proves to be the optimum resonant frequency for monitoring phase transformations. It is concluded that in TEDAI2.5 TCNQ, the I−3 ions bend as the temperature is lowered in order to accomodate a contracting lattice. In the case of the β-(BEDT-TTF)2I3, a splitting of the I−3 symmetric mode is observed, but no deformation of the anion is evident as one goes into the incommensurate phase at low temperatures.
