Abstract

Economic evaluations are becoming increasingly important tools for assisting in health services decision making. Program managers and other decision makers often need to compare different programs and set priorities for resource allocation. Economic evaluations can be helpful by providing information about the costs and benefits of various alternatives. For evaluations to be comparable, however, they must be conducted by similar methods. Economic evaluation for AIDS prevention and prevention generally is a relatively new concept, and therefore methods for conducting such studies are still being developed.
