Abstract

The format of this chapter is similar to that in previous volumes, with sections covering metal aqua and oxo ions, metal ion complexes, and metalloproteins. The rate constants and activation parameters (ΔH and ΔS values are given in units of kJ mol−1 and J K−1 mol−1) are presented in four tables, with Table 2.1 containing data for electron transfer reactions between metal complexes, Table 2.2 presenting directly measured electron self-exchange rate data, and Tables 2.3 and 2.4 containing the data for intramolecular and intermolecular metalloprotein electron transfer reactions, respectively. The disussion in each section of the text and the data in the tables are arranged, for the most part, in the order of increasing atomic number of the central metal ion in the reductant.
