Abstract

We studied the static “soliton”solutions of a two dimensional window Josephson junction. The junction is surrounded by a region with no tunneling with inductive properties similar or different from the window. We have varied the aspect ratios of the junction and its environment with respect to the Josephson characteristic length λ j . In all cases the fluxon width is much larger than λ j . It depends in a complicated way on the geometry when λ j is smaller than the width of the junction. On the contrary for long and narrow junctions it increases like λ2 j . This strong increase of the fluxon width leads to its destruction due to the finiteness of the junction.
