Abstract

The diagnostic classification of psychoactive substance use disorders in DSM-III-R (American Psychiatric Association, 1987) includes two major categories—substance dependence and substance abuse—for nine classes of drugs (alcohol, amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine, hallucinogens, inhalants, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and sedatives).
