Abstract

With the advance of experimental techniques, the aim of electron scattering experiments has increasingly moved towards so-called complete experiments from which the full information inherent in a given process can be deduced. Such studies are not just curiosity driven, but they lead to a much better understanding of the underlying process and thus a much more meaningful test of the corresponding theories than can be provided by conventional measurements where parameters are averaged for instance over scattering angles, spin polarizations or photon polarizations. The information derived from such complete experiments usually takes the form of a complete set of scattering amplitudes and their relative phases but it may, of course, be expressed by other equivalent parameter sets.
