Abstract
The phase equilibria are a vast area of interest in chemistry, physics, metallurgy, geology and related fields such as chemical engineering, materials science, biology, and oceanography. We shall first consider the phase equilibria for single component systems and then proceed to the multicomponent systems. It is well known from observations that in a single component system two phases may coexist under equilibrium over a range of temperature and the corresponding range of pressure.
