Abstract
The isolation and characterization of five saponins from Sophora japonica L. seeds was the objective of this paper. The structures of these saponins have been determined on the basis of chemical methods and 13C NMR spectroscopy. This was part of our program to determine the immunological activity of Sophora japonica fruit extracts1 which led us to determine the saponins of the seeds of this plant.
