Present Status of Iodine Deficiency in Poland

Abstract

The first information on the presence of goiter in some villages in Carpathian Mountains region dates from 1757. The first written paper on the incidence and epidemiology of goiter in the southern part of Poland was published in 18981 . The first map of goiter prevalence in Poland was done in 19302 on the basis of investigation on army recruits.
