Abstract
The risk for individuals to develop IDDM varies remarkably based on the country of residence and race, with Orientals having lower incidence figures, almost one twentieth of that seen in Finland.1,2 There is no question that to find the factors related to this global pattern is the key to untangling the etiology of IDDM. However, we first should confirm that the data describing the epidemiology of IDDM were obtained in a standardized manner and are accurate.
