Abstract
Among the many factors influencing energy production, a strong influence is obvious due to environmental concerns. While their limiting influence on energy production is obvious, we believe that the concerns and the corresponding restrictive measures may not have in every case a realistic basis. The consequences of restrictive measures may cost as much as a hundred billion dollars per year in the United States alone, and the actual cost may be even greater.
