Abstract

This chapter will describe the development of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and will provide a perspective for its position in professional psychology. Since the Register was initiated in 1974 it has quickly become recognized as a significant and major professional resource. Its rapid growth reflects both its timeliness and its acceptance by the profession and other relevant groups.
