Psychoanalysis and psychotherapy include myriad different approaches, one of which is family therapy. The latter is characterized by therapists who work with families rather than individuals, seeing the symptoms manifested by the individual as related to the interactions of the family as a system. This approach stems from a basic systems perspective and has developed to reflect changes within the systems movement itself.
