The meeting that generated this book was unique in that it covered the general topic of tissue renin-angiotensin systems, and even though it concentrated on the systems in reproductive and endocrine organs, it brought together information on many other local systems. Other meetings have focussed on one or another of the tissue systems, usually in the context of blood pressure control and cardiovascular disease, but few have provided broad coverage and compared one system with another. Many topics were considered in this meeting and much information was presented. However, the meeting also made it clear that much is still to be learned. Perhaps the best way to summarize what has been done and more importantly what needs to be done in the future is to consider the tissue renin-angiotensin systems in the context of a series of questions.
