The Main Trends in Study and Quantitative Description of the Sintering Processes

Abstract

A review of papers concerning the mechanism and kinetics of sintering written in the last twenty years has shown that a significant success was reached in the field of understanding, predicting and quantitatively defining sintering. However, it has not been possible so far to obtain a symbiosis of the whole sum of knowledge about sintering and to establish a general physical and physico-chemical theory. An attempt at such a synthesis is presented. Methods for the development of the techniques of engineering calculation in the technology of sintering are indicated.
