The Influence of Additives on Nucleation, Crystal Growth, and Aggregation of Calcium-Oxalate Hydrates

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the manifold influence which different additives (chloride and orthophosphate ions), amino acids (glutamic acid (Glu), tryptophan (Trp), and ornithine (Orn)), sodium dodecyl sulphate (NaDS), and Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein (THP) can exert on the nucleation, crystal growth, and aggregation of spontaneously-precipitating calcium-oxalate hydrates.
