Seromucoids, Urinary Mucoproteins, Tamm-Horsfall Protein, Glycosaminoglycans, and Total Carbohydrates in Stone Disease

Abstract

Various macromolecules play a significant role in urolithiasis. For this reason we have examined the excretory patterns of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in terms of CPC (cetylpyridinium chloride) units, its hexuronic acid (HUA) content, seromucoids (SM), Tamm-Horsfall protein (THP), total carbohydrates (TC), and urinary mucoproteins (MP) in 30 healthy normal subjects and 46 stone formers. The results are shown in Table 1.
