Abstract
Herbal teas, infusions, and medicinal plant extracts were the first effective agents for the treatment of urinary stones. Even today, these phytopharmaca play a major role in the therapy and prophylaxis of urolithiasis. They are spasmolytic, analgesic, anti-edematous, litholytic, and diuretic in effect. The effect of a combined preparation of rad. rubiae, fruct. ammeos visnagae, herb. virgaureae, rad. taraxaci, and escin (UROL) on colic, the passage of stones, and recurrent urolithiasis was tested in two studies.
