Hyperuricosuria: A Risk Factor for Urolithiasis in Saudi Arabia
One third of all patients referred to urologists in Saudi Arabia present with a history of urolithiasis. Apart from calcium oxalate and calcium-oxalate /phosphate stones, uric acid or mixed urate stones are the most frequent stone types found here. We have observed this in our own analyses of stones from our patient population (1) and our findings support those of others in this region (2).
