Urinary Ca excretion in Saudi Arabia is frequently reported as low when using Western values as a reference. We have observed this in an earlier study (1) as have others (2). Low dietary Ca intake, low vitamin D levels, loss of Ca in sweat, and a generally smaller body size in Saudi Arabia may all be contributing factors in this finding.
