Abstract

A selective therapy for renal lithiasis obviously needs a correct metabolic diagnosis that can be formulated from the results of a complete evaluation of mineral metabolism. A very large number of laboratory findings must be considered. Therefore, a computerized handling of data could considerably speed up the diagnostic procedure, avoiding the cumbersome and time-consuming phase of mathematical counts. A computerized ‘expert system’ for the automated diagnosis of disorders of mineral metabolism linked with renal lithiasis is presented.
