Abstract
As an individual, not on behalf of the EPA Science Advisory Board, I would like to share with you some of the problems I have observed with reviews of a variety of technologies. I have been with the Science Advisory Board since the marquee at EPA was first lit up, except for a brief period in 1981 when there was an enforced sabbatical leave for some of us. I would like to indicate some of the issues that I see in the area of biodegradation in the broader sense, and in applying genetic engineering to biodegradation in a narrow sense.
