The Ontogenetic Development of Sensory Corpuscles

The development of sensory nerve endings correlates with the different maturity of new-born individuals in nidifugous and nidicolous species of mammals and birds (Malinovský and Páč, 1986). This assumption is based upon previous studies of the Herbst corpuscle development in the duck (Malinovský and Páč, 1985) and of the development of simple sensory corpuscles in the cat (Malinovský and Páč, 1982). The study of the development of sensory nerve endings in other species of mammals and birds could corroborate or refute this assumption.
