Systems, Science, and Technology

Part of the Contemporary Systems Thinking book series (CST)

The previous two chapters have concerned themselves with presenting an image of OR as a system for solving problems of a particular type in a particular way which is embedded within an organizational environment. Systems ideas have been used to conceptualize the OR process. There has been no discussion of how systems ideas have been used within that process. The discussion in this chapter completes the consideration of systems in OR by looking at this issue. The previous chapter concluded with a model of OR as an information-processing system. The present chapter considers the use of systems ideas by this system.
