Cognition and Communication
In previous chapters questions of communication with young people have been the implicit or explicit topic when I discuss therapeutic intervention. The subject of this chapter is that proposed ways of talking to a young person ought to intersect his thinking mode. Any statement a clinician makes, especially the interpretation, must be phrased in words that young people can understand. Incomprehensible statements will not catch their attention or influence their thoughts.
