The Determination to Learn

Abstract

My main objective in writing this book is to claim that young people are capable of inquiring about the risks of knowing. The major impact of my psychotherapeutic efforts with those who have decided not to learn stems from my conviction that they can conjecture about learning differently from the past and thus change the course of their lives. Perhaps this view stimulated a similar conviction in them which renewed their learning and knowing attempts. If so, there can be no better rule in work with young people who refuse learning than for their psychotherapist or their teacher to demonstrate to them that they can overcome the impediments to learning they themselves create.
