Abstract

Neonatal asphyxia is a common and serious complication at birth, often leading to neonatal death or later developmental defects. The development of 129 survivors of birth asphyxia (Apgar scores of 7 or less at 1 minute after birth) was assessed in this study by the American-normed Denver Developmental Screening Test (DDST).
