Patterning of Polydiacetylene Waveguides by Means of Argon Laser Photobleaching
There is currently a noticeable interest in the investigation of the nonlinear optical properties of conjugated polymers. Even if the materials we could test so far, in particular poly-3BCMU, have a third order susceptivity χ(3) which is not sufficient for practical purposes, however great hopes still lie in new organic materials — based on recent theoretical achievements — that can fulfil all the requirements of future nonlinear devices1.
