  • Chapter
Flexible Assembly Systems

Abstract

The fundamental theme of this book is that for the greatest productivity to be realized, there must be quantitative information about all of the elements that constitute the FAS. This chapter indicates how the reliability of the proposed system can be determined (by calculation of the probability of catastrophic failure of the various electromechanical-control systems) through elemental evaluation of the total system.
