Throughout this book the emphasis has been on (quantitative) knowledge. The amount of control that can be exercised on the activities within and without a FAS depends directly upon the amount and validity of the knowledge that is available. Too little knowledge means that control is reactive and consequently of a firefighting nature. Too much knowledge is an impossibility, since the FAS is a dynamic entity and therefore the validity and relevance of all knowledge varies with time.
