Abstract

This project has an interesting history. It was first brought to us in 1978 when Sarah Lawrence was seeking planning funds to develop a master’s degree training program for health advocates. Since the Burden Foundation is relatively small and concentrates its funds almost entirely in the fields of aging and crime and justice, we were not in a position to consider this initial request for support because it addressed the problem of health care in a general way.
