Abstract

This chapter begins with a review of traditional linear filtering using numerical methods. A comparison is then made with logical filtering with demonstrations of the use of logical filtering for feature extraction. The problem of detecting signals in noise is next discussed, followed by a section on correlation and convolution using the cellular automaton.
