The Steady-State Demand-Output-Waste Economy

On the whole, man inherited an economic universe that was essentially in steady-state. Until rather modern times animals that he might need were largely kept from multiplying to a point of endangering their own food supply by predator animals, by malnutrition, by disease, and by other natural forces. Similarly, the oxygen level man needed to breath was maintained in the air by a carbon dioxide and food energy chain through a green plant-animal symbiosis on a global scale. Nature was said to be in balance, and modern man found it, including his cities and farms, almost so or simply it and he would not have come to be.
