A Study on a Relocation of a Nursing Home for Blind Older Adults
People encounter major environmental transitions during the course of their lives (e. g., entering school, marriage, retirement, relocation, natural disaster, and bereavement). These transitions cause radical changes in an individual’s person-environment system (P-E system). Relocation might operate as a critical transition if the processes involved are difficult for the individual (cf. Wapner, 1987). Since visual impairment is a definite barrier in the development of environmental cognition, careful interventions are required in, for example, the case of relocation for the visually impaired.
