The set of Maxwell differential equations (1.1) can be solved, in principle, when constitutive relationships (Section 1.2) as well as initial and boundary conditions (Section 1.4) are prescribed. The differential operators which appear in Eqs. (1.1) involve either time (∂/∂t) or space (∇) differential operators.
