Abstract
Because the symptoms of depression are often interpreted as an emotional disorder, a wide variety of psychological therapies are available. With so much research into the biological causes of depression and the availability of physiological antidepressant treatments, it might be tempting to question the relevance of talk therapy. While I remain encouraged that the physical aspects of depressive illness are gaining a greater degree of acceptance, it is also essential to analyze the current trends in psychological therapies, because they are still an influential treatment form.
