Abstract
In the first six chapters of this book, you learned essential details about an x86-64 processor including its data types, general-purpose registers, and memory addressing modes. You also examined a variety of source code examples that illustrated the fundamentals of x86-64 assembly language programming. At this point, you should have a solid understanding of the x86-64 assembly language instructions that perform integer arithmetic, compare operations, conditional jumps, and scalar floating-point arithmetic. You should also comprehend basic assembler usage (instruction syntax, data storage directives, operators, etc.) and the protocol requirements for calling an x86-84 assembly language function from C++.
