Abstract

Communication and collaboration are vital for Microservices applications – whether it is synchronous or asynchronous. In this chapter, I am going to elaborate on what Publish and Subscribe is and when it is useful. I will walk you through the Dapr capabilities for implementing Publish and Subscribe and what are the supported messaging systems. Note that I will collectively refer to message brokers and streaming platforms that are supported by Dapr as messaging systems. Then I will show you how to build a system of three services where one of them is producing events and the others are consuming and processing them. At the end of the chapter, I will briefly touch on the future of the Publish and Subscribe building block in Dapr.
