Abstract

So far in this book, we have looked at what it takes to get PolyBase up and running on a machine, as well as steps to integrate with a variety of sources. In this chapter, we will dig into the Dynamic Management Views (DMVs) which provide us insights into what, exactly, is going on when we run a remote query through PolyBase. The first part of this chapter will cover the importance of DMVs for management. From there, we will look at each of the DMVs SQL Server exposes in turn. The final part of this chapter will review the information we can learn from DMVs when executing a variety of remote queries.
