In-Person Events: The How, Why, and Where

Once you’ve figured out who your audience is and where they tend to congregate, the next logical question usually relates to events. Connecting with people online is important and a good way to observe trends, but meeting up in person allows you to get to know the actual people in your community on a different level. While talking on Twitter and even on video chat is a great first and second step, face-to-face interactions build on those online relationships in ways you can’t predict otherwise. (Pro tip: when facilitating a conference for your community, include their Slack or Twitter handles on their badges so they can easily identify online friends and colleagues.)
