Troubleshooting SharePoint

Abstract

In Chapter 5, I spoke about the use of telnet to check that a port is open between the soon-to-be SharePoint servers and the SQL server(s), but we didn’t go any further than looking at how to add and remove telnet. Chapter 6 featured the ports used by SharePoint in Table 6-1. I mentioned that telnet can be used to test communication on all ports and that you can check that the servers can find each other by pinging the various servers in your farm with ping.
