Abstract
No matter which content management system a company is using, two types of problems often emerge: uncontrolled growth of the system and inadequate use, as well as need for further customization. The first problem increases usually with the size of the company and the more the company is using the system. However, firms can effectively avoid uncontrolled growth and inadequate usage by actively counteracting. In detail, the firm has to setup a governance model defining how the system has to be used, how users have to use it, how the users have to be trained, and which rights the different users are granted with. The second problem increases usually with the complexity of the firm, the underlying processes, and the required level of personalizing the look and feel. For transferring the internal process into the content management system, workflows can help automatizing and standardizing. Additional tools exist to integrate more complex processes, but also to change the look and feel of the system. Providing this chapter, all two problems are tackled by detailing its solutions: governance model, and additional tools to improve look and feel as well as workflows.
